En el Centro de Fisioterapia y Osteopatía Eguzki impartimos clases de Pilates dirigidas tanto a gente joven como a personas mayores, siempre bajo la supervisión de un Fisioterapeuta especializado en el método.
En nuestro centro combinamos los ejercicios de suelo (sobre una colchoneta) con los ejercicios en aparatos específicos. En esta ocasión queremos que conozcáis un aparato que utilizamos en nuestras clases llamado BOSU.
¿Qúe es el BOSU?
La palabra BOSU significa “Both sides utlilized”, haciendo referencia a que el entrenamiento sobre él implica no solamente el lado físico, sino también el mental.
El entrenamiento con BOSU obliga a los que lo practican no solo a ejercitarse físicamente sino también a estar plenamente concentrados en el “aquí y ahora”. El trabajo con el BOSU, si se enseña correctamente, puede aplicarse a cualquier persona, sea cual sea su condición física.
Es una herramienta que permite entrenar el equilibrio, la estabilización del tronco y la propiocepción. Es un equipamiento único que puede ayudar a realizar un entrenamiento efectivo y divertido tanto para personas desentrenadas como para atletas muy entrenados.
Entrenando con el BOSU se consiguen sutiles ajustes de equilibrio y respuestas de reacción rápida. También pueden ser utilizados ejercicios de seguimiento visual para aumentar la dificultad del ejercicio. Este tipo de entrenamiento requiere constantes ajustes y atención por parte del participante, de forma que cuerpo y mente están activos en todo momento.
Cuando se entrena con es normal moverse constantemente entre posiciones de equilibrio y desequilibrio. Esto mismo ocurre en el movimiento de la vida real, y por ello es importante el entrenamiento funcional del equilibrio.

Parece lógico que todo programa de ejercicio debe ir más allá de solamente mejorar las consideradas cualidades principales del fitness (fuerza, resistencia y flexibilidad). Conciencia corporal y equilibrio deben ser también desarrollados.
Resumiendo diríamos que sus ventajas son múltiples. Entrenar con este aparato puede aliviar el dolor crónico lumbar, mejora el sistema cardiovascular, ayuda a la obtención de una mejor postura corporal, fortalece la musculatura del tronco, abdomen, espalda, piernas y glúteos, aumenta flexibilidad, coordinación y equilibrio y si se combina con ejercicios aeróbicos se pueden quemar muchas calorías.
