El pasado fin de semana, el equipo del Centro de Fisioterapia y Osteopatía Eguzki, hicimos un seminario del curso de osteopatía con el profesor de Daniel Fernandez (Pamiers, Francia. Escuela de osteopatía C.R.E.D.O.) sobre la relajación somatoemocional.

Antes de nada, os proponemos este video en el cual podemos ver cómo el estrés afecta negativamente a nuestro cuerpo.

Como hemos visto, cuando corremos un peligro, el cuerpo se prepara para la lucha o para la huída (aumenta nuestro ritmo cardíaco, tensión arterial, el oído se agudiza, los músculos se tensan….).

Esto es algo normal si tras pasar el peligro, el cuerpo vuelve a su normalidad.

El problema es que hoy en día, el ritmo de vida al que estamos sometidos (o mejor dicho, nos sometemos), nos lleva a estar muchas horas en alerta constante.

Este estado contínuo de estrés hace que nuestro cuerpo no vuelva al estado de relajación natural. Vivimos en estado de PRE-alerta.

La labor del osteópata en este campo es la de liberar las tensiones y regular el funcionamiento de los diferentes sistemas corporales. La importancia de esto y su relación con las emociones las explica en este video Antonio Damasio, una referencia a nivel mundial en este campo, entrevistado por Punset.

Como hemos podido oir, la regulación del cuerpo, hace que todos los sistemas funcionen mejor y esto nos lleva a un sentimiento de tranquilidad.

No es suficientemente conocida la importancia de trabajar sobre el cuerpo para mejorar nuestro estado emocional. La terapia manual y la osteopatía pueden ayudar de una manera notable a relajar las tensiones corporales que nos mantienen en un estado emocional alterado. Mediante técnicas concretas podemos liberar los tejidos y con ello mejorar la información que llega a nuestro cerebro sobre nuestro estado interno. Esto puede ser de gran ayuda a la hora de superar numerosos trastornos físicos detrás de los cuales puede haber un componente emocional.

Lo que sí es más conocida hoy en día es la  teoría cognitiva de la emoción. Según esta teoría la emoción es el resultado de la combinación de lo que sientes con lo que piensas. Se ha demostrado científicamente que la interocepción (sentido interno del estado visceral) tiene su proyección en la corteza cerebral (ínsula).  Éste es el mismo área que se activa cuando sentimos una emoción.

Tenemos pues, la prueba de que emoción y viscera están relacionados.

Entonces, ¿qué pasa si tratamos de liberar esas tensiones a nivel interoceptivo (visceral)? ¿No sería lógico pensar que conseguiríamos también mejorar el estado emocional?
